140 Squadron Sponsoring Committee

The 140 Squadron Sponsoring Committee - SSC - is comprised of a small Executive group and a number of regular members. Being a parent run organization, all parents automatically become members of the SSC and are encouraged to attend as active participants and regular members.

SSC Executive

The SSC Executive is elected by regular members and sits for a two year tenure. The Executive is currently comprised of the following positions:

• Chairperson - Jacqueline Douglas
• Vice Chairperson - Pat Lalonde
• Treasurer - Heather Horton
• Secretary - Kelly Rutherford
• Past Chair - Laurie Macdonald

The Executive has set up a number of sub-committees to handle various tasks relate to running the squadron. Sub-committees are staffed by regular members and meet regularly to discuss their tasks.

Fund-Raising

The Fund-Raising sub-committee is exploring the options available for raising funds to operate the squadron and expand the range of activities offered to the cadets. Currently this team is reaching out to the business sector in Aurora to seek sponsorship funds and donations.

Recruitment

This sub-committee is tasked with assisting the squadron with its annual Recruitment Drive. This year the Squadron plans to visit the schools in Aurora as well as host an Open House evening. The sub-committee is busy with the many details involved in making this Recruitment Drive the most successful yet.

Communications

This sub-committee is tasked with providing the cost effective tools to administer the Squadron. It has considered various options for obtaining computer equipment, telephone and Internet services, and Audio Conferencing facilities; the website is also managed by this group.
